For those interested in the Wizard World Heroclix Championship in Texas, here are the details for the tournament. Note that there are some changes from previous World Championships:
The NEW Wizard World HeroClix Invitational Tournament at Wizard World Texas
Qualifier: All HeroClix (Wizkids Supported) events in the first 2 weekends of October. (Oct. 6 – 8th & Oct. 13 – 15th) —The champions of these events will be invited to compete in the NEW Invitational tournament at Wizard World Texas. —An invitation will guarantee a player a spot in the Saturday event and allow him or her two chances to advance to Sunday’s main event. —The tournament hall will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Local qualifiers must show up and check in on time in order to be guaranteed a spot in the tournament. —Winning an event in the allotted window generates an invitation to the Wizard World Texas Invitational only if the event is reported promptly and run correctly. —All Events need to be reported by October 29th in order for winners to be eligible. —Invitations will be sent via e-mail October 30th, so please make sure your e-mail address is current in your WizKids account. This e-mail will be your invitation verification at the convention. This invitation is non-transferable. —Players can receive only one invitation. Playing and winning more than one event, in this particular iteration only, is acceptable.
WWHC @ Texas Friday Open 300-point event (Sealed) The top 15 advance to Sunday’s main event. Note: Local qualifiers are allowed to play AND win this event!
Saturday 300-point event (Sealed) Minimum of 64 players and maximum of 128 players **Local qualifiers (invitations needed) seated first. Players with invitations must check in on time. Open seats will only be filled if less than 64 local qualifiers show up. After the qualifiers are seated, the remaining seats will be OPEN and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The top 16 advance to Sunday’s main event.
SUNDAY MAIN EVENT 300-point event (Constructed) Two Swiss rounds; top 8, single elimination
Grand Prize 1. Paid travel, hotel, and convention admission accommodations to Wizard World LA (to be arranged by WizKids) 2. A HeroClix Invitational trophy 3. A Master Piece HeroClix figure of the winner’s choosing (Figure must be from a set released in the last year. Large, exclusive figures are excluded.)
